Who We Are

Grace Poling
Associate Dean of Admission, Director of International Recruitment

I have the great privilege and pleasure of meeting many hard-working, extremely talented international students , as well as Americans who live abroad before they make Ohio their home. I enjoy working with such a diverse population.

I grew up in the international city of Hong Kong and was educated in both British and American systems. Having experience in both systems makes me appreciative of the academic preparation our international students have undertaken before they begin their college careers at Ohio Wesleyan. I look forward to meeting you on the Web, through correspondence, by phone, or in person when I travel to your city or you visit OWU.

Janice Lovat
Admission Specialist

Although I was born in Ohio, I became a global nomad at the age of three months. I lived in the Philippines, Italy, and France before returning to Ohio at age 13. The next year we moved to Virginia, and when I was 18, my family relocated to Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

I worked at the International Civil Aviation Organization and moved back to Ohio in 1992 with a Canadian husband and two sons. One son is currently enrolled at The Ohio State University, and the other is studying at Ohio Wesleyan. We also live with a menagerie of animals that includes three dogs, six cats and two horses on a 19-acre farm. I enjoy riding (hunter/jumper), reading, and, of course, taking care of all those animals.

Pooja
Student Assistant, Office of Admission

My name is Pooja, and I am from Calcutta, India. OWU has been my home for the last two years. From classes, extra-curricular activities, jobs, friends and acquaintances, I have had the best experiences here and loved all of it. I have met some of the most amazing people in the world and formed lasting bonds and friendships. I have found a best friend in a roommate, a life coach in a boss, and a mentor in a professor.

I am a zoology major and a psychology minor. My passion is animals and I am the President of PetPals, an animal welfare organization on campus. Through the club, I volunteer at the Humane Society of Delaware County every week. I have also volunteered at the Ohio Wildlife Center. This past summer I spent two months on the other side of the country, working at an animal sanctuary near Seattle, Washington, and I had the most incredible time! I will be working as a veterinary assistant this semester in addition to my on-campus jobs at the Annual Fund office and the Admissions Office. I love both jobs because I get to learn about the wonderful experiences alumni had at OWU and I get to share my experiences as a current student with prospective applicants from around the world.

OWU has been a wonderful adventure from the very first day I arrived on campus. I have had opportunities to learn and grow each day and the journey continues. This is the best thing that ever happened to me and I can’t imagine life without Ohio Wesleyan.

Prakrity
Student Assistant, Office of Admission

I’m Prakrity. I am from Kathmandu, Nepal, and I’m a sophomore at OWU. I did most of my schooling in Kalimpong, India, and completed my high school at Lincoln School in Nepal.

I am pursuing a double major in Pre-dentistry and Sociology. I feel very much at home at Ohio Wesleyan. It is an awesome university and a wonderful place to meet new friends as it has such a diverse community.

I am a very outgoing person and love meeting new people. During my free time, I like playing basketball and ping-pong, listening to music, reading, and hanging out with my buddies. I like dancing and have choreographed a dance for TerpsiCorps, which is a campus dance organization.

As an active member of the campus, I like being involved in different groups. I have joined various organizations such as Colleges against Cancer, Women in Science, and Pre-med Club. There is so much happening at OWU!
