- OWU Online International Application or Common Application, which you must complete in full, including your signature.
- A nonrefundable application fee (required only if you choose not to apply online) of US$35.
Note: You may request that this fee be deferred (payable on enrollment) because of extreme financial hardship or currency exchange restrictions and your request is supported by a letter from your school principal or another qualified person.
- Academic documentation, which will not be returned and must include:
- Official or original attested copies of academic records from all secondary schools, universities, or other post-secondary institutions you have attended. The records should include each subject you studied and the grade, mark, or other evidence that you completed the course satisfactorily. Your record should contain an explanation of the grading system. We cannot accept faxed or plain copies of these records. Records should be submitted in English or in the original language accompanied by a certified literal translation.

These results include such tests as O-levels, IB,IGCSE, ICSE, SPM, KCSE, and others that are administered by an educational examining board. We cannot accept faxed or plain copies of these records. Records should be submitted in English or in the original language accompanied by a certified literal translation and should contain an explanation of the grading system.
- Official or original attested copies of SAT score results. Information about the SAT is available www.collegeboard.com. We also accept scores from the American College Test (ACT) in lieu of the SAT. Information about the ACT is available at www.ACT.org.
- Official or original attested copies of scores on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or International English Language Testing System (IELTS) as evidence of your proficiency in English if English is not your native language. For information about these tests, go to www.ets.org/toefl of www.ielts.org.
- Three letters of recommendation from teachers, coaches, or principals who are familiar with your recent academic performance. The writers of the recommendations should mail them directly to the Office of International Admission. Alternatively, they may give the letters to you in a sealed envelope with the writer’s signature across the flap.
- A brief autobiographical statement that includes your personal educational goals.
- Your essay. If you are applying for admission, we require that you submit one essay. If you are applying for financial assistance, you should submit two separate essays on two different subjects.
- Financial support documents. Ohio Wesleyan offer primarily merit-based financial assistance to qualified accepted students. Most of our students are expected to contribute a significant amount toward the cost of their education. We require that you submit proof that you have sufficient funds—at least US$12,000—for expenses for at least the first year. These supporting documents might include:
- official bank statements
- tax returns
- letters from your parents’ employers
that show income or assets that would be used toward your educational costs.
- International Student Financial Aid Application (ISFAA) (249k PDF*). This application must be filed by February 1. Please be advised the award of need-based aid is determined by the overall strength of an applicant’s academic profile and the availability of funds. Competition for financial aid is intense. By accepting this form, the Admission Office does not suggest we are able to meet your full financial need. Most international students are expected to contribute a significant portion of the cost towards their education at Ohio Wesleyan University.
- Photograph. Sending a recent photograph is optional, but recommended.
- Optional:
- Students – We invite you to use a separate sheet of paper to share any additional information you believe could be important in our evaluation of your application.
- Parents – We also invite parents to use a separate sheet of paper to send additional comments about their son or daughter. Parents’ observations helps us form a more complete picture of the applicant and develop an appreciation for the student as a person.
